Mercedes-Benz has lifted the veil of secrecy on the plug-in-electric propulsion system of its upcoming SLS E-Cell, first revealed in concept form at the 2009 Frankfurt auto show. Set to go into limited production in early 2013, the zero-emission version of the German carmaker's signature gullwing coupe is set to rival a raft of new high-priced electric or hybrid supercars due out in the not-too-distant future, including the Audi E-tron, the BMW i8, the Jaguar C-X75 and the Porsche 918. The car is undergoing development at Mercedes-Benz's performance-car AMG unit and its British-based sister company, AMG High Performance Powertrains--the company behind Mercedes' latest 2.4-liter V6 Formula One race engine.
Subaru showed two other concepts alongside the Levorg at the Tokyo Motor Show – both of which are interesting, neither of which came with very much information. The Subaru Viziv Evolution proposes a three-motor hybrid all-wheel drive system, similar to that under development by Honda, while the Subaru Cross Sport Design concept appears to be nothing less than a shooting brake estate version of the BRZ. 2014 Ford Focus facelift (pictured) is heading for Geneva
It doesn’t seem five minutes since the latest Ford Focus arrived, but it’s facelift time already for the Focus and that can only mean one thing – an Aston Marin grill. Just as it has with all its new cars in the last year or two, Ford has bolted a new front end on the 2014 Focus with a new bumper, new lights and a grill that started life on an Aston Martin. The rest of the changes look to be minimal, with small changes to the rear lights and alloys about all the exterior has to offer.
